The PRS Subject Centre policy on copyright covers two types of case: (1) materials which have already been published elsewhere, and (2) materials published on our website for the first time.
Our policy is not to place any previously published materials on our website without the express permission of both the author and the owner of the copyright. We may place a limited amount of materials on the website without such permission, if we are unable to trace either the author or the owner of the copyright. We shall remove the material immediately in the event of any complaint from the author or the owner of the copyright.
In the case of works which are out of print, we would normally hope to receive permission to republish free of charge, or for a token fee. We have a small budget for copyright permissions, and we may be willing to pay a higher fee if there is any likelihood that republication on our website would harm the commercial interests of the author or publisher.
The copyright policy for the website is the same as the policy for Discourse, and also needs to be in line with our other publication policies where appropriate.
Materials submitted for publication to the website or in hardcopy printed form will become the copyright of the Subject Centre for PRS on publication via either (or both) media; negotiated retention of copyright by the author is possible beforehand. All materials commissioned by the Subject Centre for PRS or produced by a project funded by the PRS Subject Centre are copyright to the Subject Centre for PRS.
