An introduction to the role of philosophy in developing teaching and learning, this workshop explores some of the metaphysical, epistemological and ethical issues that arise in thinking about teaching, alongside the real world requirements of course design, including the Philosophy Benchmark Statement. The workshop provides:

• An exploration of the philosophical challenges inherent in education
• A first look at the requirements for all course design in philosophy
• A forum for discussing specific philosophical topics in relation to research and teaching
