This workshop aims to develop students' understanding of the tutorial/seminar process, through theory and practical exercises, and so improve their ability to participate effectively in class discussions.

Topics covered include:

• What's the point? How seminars and tutorials differ from lectures, and why this is an important part of philosophical development.
• Effective seminar preparation.
• Making the most of seminar discussions - tips for practising philosophical skills and obtaining useful feedback.
• Exploring other discussion opportunities - virtual debates and student-led groups.
