This workshop is designed to support departments in tackling 'generic' initiatives in higher education in a way that is appropriate to our discipline. It can be focused solely on employability or PDP, or it can be used to explore ways in which these two issues can be approached in an integrated fashion.
The workshop will typically cover:
- A brief introduction to the employability and/or PDP agenda(s).
- 'Why bother?' - an opportunity for participants to explore how these issues are relevant to you and your students.
- A review of existing practice, to identify and articulate what the department is already doing to foster students' personal development and employability.
- Exploration and analysis of approaches developed in other departments and how these might be adapted for your own use.
