This workshop provides an overview of assessment strategies and methods that are appropriate to philosophy or HPS; and explores how we can effectively tackle the challenges of assessing philosophical work fairly and objectively.
Issues covered include:
- What are the purposes of assessment, and how does this shape our assessment methods?
- Exploring alternatives to the ‘essay + exam’ approach: pros and cons.
- How we can ensure that our assessment approach is fair to all students, and to staff – including tackling plagiarism.
