With growing institutional pressure to make use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), but limited support on how to add value to teaching materials presented online, in many cases this means that old hard-copy resources are simply 'shovelled' into the VLE and 'shovelled' off again by students using a printer. This workshop aims to show how more value can be added to online philosophy or HPS resources, and how they can be made more accessible.

The workshop covers:

• The pros and cons of e-learning in general.
• Things to do with texts on screen to improve the student learning experience.
• Making texts as legible as possible.
