Perspectives - Higher Education Academy Islamic Studies Network publication

September 29th 2010

Perspectives is the Islamic Studies Network’s biannual publication.  It is a forum for the exchange of ideas and good practice in teaching and learning in Islamic Studies and related subjects.

The first edition will be published in November 2010 and will include papers from Professor the Baroness Haleh Afshar and Professor Ron Geaves, based on their keynote presentations at the Network’s inaugural event in May. It will also include highlights of two exciting resources that have been recently developed for Islamic Studies, and articles on curriculum development and developing modules in political science, written by colleagues in the sector.

Hard copies of Perspectives will be distributed to Islamic Studies Network members at publicly funded UK HEIs, and the magazine will also be available online.  To ensure you receive a hard copy, please contact us at islamicstudies@heacademy.ac.uk to register with the Network.

We are now gathering contributions for the second edition, to be published in April 2011.   We are looking for articles or case studies of 1,000 - 3,000 words in length on any topic related to the pedagogy of Islamic Studies, broadly defined.  Contributions will be reviewed by the editorial board.

If you would like to contribute, please contact Dr Lisa Bernasek, Academic Coordinator for the Islamic Studies Network, at
